Nationality
I’m from Trinidad and Tobago; a twin-island nation in the Caribbean. It was formerly a British colony.
Education and Experience
At the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, I majored in Environment and Natural Resource Management and completed a double minor in Zoology and Marine Biology (B.Sc. degree with honours).
I am a TEFL-certified teacher with more than five years of varied teaching experience, including international work experience in China and online tutoring.
Working at Regent College
At Regent College, I teach English, Mathematics and Science. I employ modern strategies to suit every type of learner and I often use interactive multimedia activities as well as a robust reward system. I teach a range of students – from first graders to adults!
Scientific Interests and Achievements
I’m really passionate about ecology, marine life, and geography. My scientific paper on Ramphastos Vitellinus, a tropical bird, was published by the University of the West Indies in an online e-book. I’ve also participated in 3 National Geographic Bioblitz programs which involved exploring swamps, coastlines and forests to find new species of nocturnal arachnids. I’ve also done water quality studies at several beaches in Trinidad. Moreover, my fieldwork studies have taken me to exciting places such as tropical rainforests, mangrove forests, coral reefs, volcanic sites, limestone caves and waterfalls.
Hobbies and Other Interests
I’m secretly a writer. Apart from ghostwriting occasional research papers and magazine articles for private clients, I’ve written over a hundred editorial book reviews for authors in the USA, Canada, and the UK. I’ve also co-authored a 235-page cookbook which is presently marketed on Amazon.
Other hobbies include creating watercolour and acrylic paintings, reading, travelling and cooking.
