Regent Bilingual High School

Regent Bilingual High School  (its full name registered in Polish: Niepubliczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące Regent z oddziałami dwujęzycznymi w Elblągu).

Regent High School functiones based on three documents: the decision given by the Superintendent of Schools from Olsztyn,  entry in the schools and non-public institutions register run by the City Hall of Elblag and the School Statute. The school has the rights of a public school and is financed from educational grants received from the City of Elblag and fees.  The school, like all public schools, is supervised by the Superintendent from Olsztyn.

In Polish educational system, high schools provide education for teenagers aged 16-18.

Bilingual Regent High School offers the following class modules:

 

Medical – this module is offered in a bilingual class which uses English as the main language at extended level for the following subjects: biology, chemistry, social studies with the elements of history and economics.      

For this class:

  • increased number of English lessons, min. 5 lessons weekly for first grades and 7 hours weekly for second and third grades. This includes conversation classes with Native Speakers and Cambridge exams prepartation,
  • students are introduced to medical English which is used at universities  and is also useful later in a professsional career,
  • teaching subjects with extended curriculum is done in English,
  • we shape critical thinking skills, foster abilities to experiment, encourage health and ecology consciouss attitude,
  • from the second grade, there are minimum four hours of chemistry and biology weekly,
  • students are prepared for Matura exams in compulsory subjects at extended level  and for CAE exam, which is required by British Universities,
  • depending on students’ interests, we encourage participation in subjects, arts or sports clubs.

 English-Language Class (Medical module) – Weekly curriculum for non-Polish speakers

Law  – this module offers subjects at a basic level and the following subjects: English, history, social studies, science and economics at extended level.

For this class:

  • there are minimum 5 English lessons weekly. This includes conversation classes with Native Speakers and Cambridge exams prepartation,
  • we develop interest in literature, arts and culture and history,
  • we teach to create journalistic texts,
  • there are minimum 4 classes of history and social studies from the second grade,
  • students are prepared for Matura examination in compulsory subjects at extended level and CAE exam which is required by British Universities,
  • depending on students’ interests, we encourage participation in subject, arts and sports clubs.

 English-Language Class (Law module) – Weekly curriculum for non-Polish speakers

Engineer’s –  this module offers subjects at a basic level and the following subjects: English, mathematics, physics, history, social studies and economics at extended level.

For this class:

  • there are minimum 5 English lessons weekly. This includes conversation classes with Native Speakers and Cambridge exams prepartation,
  • we help to develop science skills,
  • we invite students to participate in interesting lectures and science experiments,
  • there are  five classes of maths weekly for first grade and minimum six classes of maths  weekly  from second grade,
  • there are minimum four classes of physics weekly from second grade,
  • students are prepared for Matura examination in compulsory subjects at extended level and CAE exam which is required by British Universities,
  • depending on students’ interests, we encourage participation in subject, arts and sports clubs.

English-Language Class (Engineers’s module) – Weekly curriculum for non-Polish speakers

Accreditation documents and School Statutes: 

Regent High School students who plan to continue education at colleges in the USA can take SAT I and SAT II  exam studying in the second or third grade.
