Regent Bilingual Junior High School

Regent Bilingual Junior High School (its full name registered in Polish: Niepubliczne Gimnazjum Regent z oddziałami dwujęzycznymi w Elblągu).

Regent Billingual Junior High School functions based on three documents: the decision given by the Superintendent of Schools in Olsztyn, entry in schools and non- public institutions register run by the City of Elblag and the School Statute. The school has the rights of a public school and is financed from educational grants received from the city of Elblag and from fees. The school, like all public schools, is supervised by the Superintendent of Schools from Olsztyn.

In Polish educational system, Junior High School – lower secondary schools provide education for teenagers aged 13-15, which is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. Education in Junior High School ends with a nationwide written examination conducted by the Examining Board. The results of these exams and students’ final grades are the basis for being accepted by secondary schools.

Regent Bilingual Junior High School offers the following class profiles:

English – Language Class (with extended biology and chemistry) teaching is done both in Polish and English.

There are 8 lessons of English weekly including Conversation classes taught by Native Speakers  in small groups.  First grade students have obligatory, extra classes preparing them for biology and chemistry, these two subjects are taught partly in English and Polish.  Second grade students start studying biology and chemistry in English. Third grade students devote one English lesson weekly to prepare for Cambridge English exams FCE or CAE. Students follow special curriculum created by the teachers of subjects mentioned above. The curriculum is strictly based on Gymnasium Examination requirements.

Mathematics and Foreign Language Class (with extended Maths and English language programme).

This profile is targeted at students who show interest in mathematics and technology and who wish to study English at extended level. There are 6 maths classes weekly – extended programme. There are 5 English classes weekly including Conversation classes taught by Native Speakers in small groups.  Third grade students devote one English lesson weekly to prepare for Cambridge English exams FCE or CAE. Students follow special curriculum created by the teachers of subjects mentioned above. The curriculum is strictly based on Gymnasium Examination requirements.

Important!

As a result of changes in Educational System introduced in Poland from 2017/2018 school year, Junior High School will teach students at 2nd and 3rd grade of junior high school only. Students aged 13 will be accepted to the 7th grade of primary school. The weekly timetable for the 7th grade will be the same as for the 1st gymnasium grade.
